Apart from that, we believe that students need to learn, not merely how to do well in examinations, but how to be wise in the way they deal with life and its challenges. Thus, the worksheets provide opportunity for discussion on appropriate responses in sticky, every day situations. This is in keeping with the objectives of making parables@work a vehicle to help students plot a way to wisdom.
We must say that we have achieved a certain amount of success. Not only have our students, on the whole, performed very well in their examinations, many love coming for classes. Parents inform us that their children usually chatter about what they learnt at parables the minute they are picked up. This is indeed something that warms our hearts. Parents have also been very appreciative of the fact that we go beyond the curriculum in our teaching.
Today, parables@work not only conducts English classes but also Math & Science classes, creative writing classes, ad-hoc oral skills classes, Science Explorer classes amongst others. parables@work also publishes its works, and the first book, “Winning Compositions” has been very well received, and is one of the very few local guide books to make its way to the National Library.
